Biometric Residence Permit for UK International Students.

BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR UK INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS.  Ever wondered what a Biometric residence permit (BRP) is and why it is important to international students and prospective study abroad students at large?  Then you should be aware that a biometric residence permit (BRP) is an identity card showing that you have the right to study or work in the UK. With a BRP, you are qualified for public services and every benefit that International students in the UK are entitled to. The following are expected to collect their biometric residence permit (BRP) after 10 days of arriving in the UK.  International students with a short-stay visa, who plan to extend their visa for longer than 6 months. International students who need to transfer their visa into a new passport. Graduates who find employment and apply to get a Tier 2 work visa. Prospective study abroad students that apply for a Tier 4 (general) visa after getting admission to study a bachelor, masters or PhD degree in a university in the UK. Without a biometric residence permit (BRP), you are at risk of being sent back to your country or being refused re-entry into the UK.    BENEFITS OF THE A BRP CARD.  A BRP card helps to prove your identity safely and quickly where and whenever this is required. With the BRP card, you can provide proof of your right to live in the UK. Quickly enable employers to identify a non-EEA national’s identity, employment status and right to work in the UK.  BRP cards are easier to carry around and avoid having to produce other less convenient documents such as passports.   BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT AND CORONA VIRUS  People tend to have challenges getting their biometric residence permit (BRP) within the stipulated period of 10 days especially since they are required to pick it up at the post office or the university.  However, due to the Corona Virus  (Covid 19) pandemic and the requirement to self-isolate, this 10-day deadline has been relaxed and made flexible. International students can pick up their BRP card anytime after the completion of their required self-Isolation. Also, universities have stopped receiving BRP cards for students due to the pandemic and the lockdown requirements but depending on the university where you are granted admission, your BRP can be sent directly to your home address. This can be done once you have presented evidence of your entry to the UK to the Immigration and Compliance Team and you used the university’s BRP ACL code in your visa application.    Meet our counsellors at Negxy Concept Limited to get the opportunity to study in reputable universities in the UK and get more information on Uk visa processing.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. UK student visa for prospective study abroad students.

UK Student Visa

UK STUDENT VISA   There are numerous reasons why International students love to study in the Uk, from quality education, scholarship and loans to numerous employment opportunities etc. A good number of International students wants to study in the UK and fulfil their dream to gain global exposure, this can be done by studying in world-class universities in the UK. For international students to study in the UK they need to apply for a student visa. A student visa allows people from outside of the European economic area to enter the UK as a student, either at a school, college, or university. International students are allowed to apply for a UK student visa only after they have been offered admission into a university in the UK. The course of study determines the type of visa a student would be granted.   TYPES OF UK STUDENT VISA There are two types of student visa in the UK: The Short term study visa Tier 4 (General) student visa A short term study visa is given to students over 16 years old, who have gotten admission into a university in the UK to study a short course of 6months or an English language course of 11months. The short term study visa costs £93 for a 6-month visa and £179 for the 11-month option A Tier 4 (General) student visa is the usual visa that most prospective study abroad students over 16 years old are given when they apply for a degree that lasts for 1 or 2 years. A student from outside the UK can apply for a Tier 4 (General) student visa online, 3 months before the course starts and can arrive in the UK a month earlier. On Tier 4 (General) visa, students can work most jobs and also apply to extend their stay or switch visa’s within the UK. The current fee for the Tier 4 (General) student visa is £351. Some students believe that they can study a 6 months course or an English language course that lasts for 11months and still get all the benefits that come with having a general student visa. However, it is advisable for a prospective study abroad student to study a longer course in the UK and get a tier 4 (General) student visa, as this comes with benefits Like: Up to 3years post-study work permit. (post-study visa) The ability to apply for a dependent visa Work while studying in the United Kingdom etc.   THE REQUIREMENTS. UK student visas are awarded on a points-based system. For a prospective study abroad student to meet the student visa requirements, they would need to provide the following: An admission offer from a university in the United Kingdom. Proof of English proficiency, either an SSCE result with a credit in English or a good score in an English language test. ( IELT) Proof of funds for the duration of studies. UK Point Based System

UK points-based system UK points-based system which treats EU and non-EU citizens equally was implemented in January 2021. On the 31st of December, free movement with the European Union (EU) ended and new arrangements were put in place for EU citizens. The Uk points-based system brought about new immigrant routes which are opened to EU and non-EU citizens to apply to work, live and study in the UK. Although there are conditions to earning these privileges, the sole purpose for this new system that was put in place by the UK government is to attract people who can contribute to the UK’s economy. UK points-based system requires EU and non-EU citizens to have 70 points upon entering the country. These points are given based on certain qualifications which an individual who wants to study, work or live in the UK must possess.    UK points-based system for international students and skilled workers.   International students The United Kingdom’s points-based system introduced the student’s route and the postgraduate immigration route for EU and non-EU students with the hope to attract 600,000 international students to universities in the United Kingdom by 2030. Minister for Future Borders and Immigration, Kevin Foster said, “Now we have left the EU, we are free to unleash this country’s full potential, implement the changes we need to restore trust in the immigration system and attract talent to drive our economy forward. Launching the student route in the UK points-based system sends a clear message to the world that we want the best and brightest to come to the United Kingdom to study at our globally renowned education institutions” However, international students to study in the United Kingdom are required to gain not less than 70 points to qualify for a study visa. This was implemented to improve the previous Tier 4 visa route for international students who are applying to study in the UK.  For a student to achieve this and get their application accepted they must hold an offer from a recognized UK university; have proof of English language proficiency (credit in SSCE English or IELTS and others) and evidence of sufficient funds. This new points-based system will allow international students who have completed a degree at a UK institution to remain in the UK to work at any skill level for two years after graduation (three years for PhD graduates) and to switch into work routes if they find a suitable job.   Skilled worker UK Points based system includes a route for skilled workers who have a job offer from an approved employer sponsor. The skilled worker route represents a significant change for employers recruiting from outside the UK. Its guide provides an overview of the points‑based immigration system and sets out the steps employers should take to adapt their business. At the end of a student’s post-study graduate immigration route, they can qualify for a work visa in the UK if they meet a specific set of requirements for which they will score points. In the UK points-based system for skilled workers, a total of 70 points is needed to be able to apply to work in the UK. To attain these points for the skilled worker route under the UK points-based system, the following are required.       A job offer at a specific skill level of  RQF3 or above which is equivalent to A level.       The job offer must be from a licensed sponsor (employer).       Have the ability to speak English in the required standard       The job offer must reach the general salary threshold of £25,600 or the specific salary requirement for their occupation (going rate). As part of the skilled worker route, applicants in the health maintenance field can secure a health and care visa with a job from the NHS (National Health Service). It enables them to come to the UK to work in eligible health occupations, the social care sector or organizations that provide services to the NHS.   Benefits of the UK points-based system.       Thanks to the UK points-based system, application and payment of Visa can be made online.       There will be no limit on the number of international students who are allowed to study in the UK under this new process.       Students outside the UK may apply for visas six months before their course starts.       The privilege to look for employment in the UK at any skill level for up to 2 or 3 years to switch into the skilled work routes       Students will be able to apply for the skilled worker route by ‘trading’ points on specific characteristics against their salary. For more information with regards to trading points on specific characteristics against your salary, check out the live session that we did on UK points based system. Covid-19 Vaccine for International Students in the UK

COVID-19 VACCINE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE UK.    Before we look into the Covid-19 vaccine for international students in the United Kingdom, let us have a better understanding of the covid vaccination and its existence in the UK.   WHAT IS A VACCINE  A Vaccine is a medication that is responsible for coaching the body’s immune system to fight diseases that the human body comes in contact with. Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat disease once you have caught it. Some example of a vaccine is:  The flu vaccine The HVP ( human papillomavirus) vaccine   After the coronavirus disease emerged in the year 2019, a vaccine was founded in the year 2021, the covid vaccination ( Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine).    CORONAVIRUS VACCINATION    The covid vaccination ( Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine)  gives you the utmost protection against the deadly coronavirus disease. Based on evidence from clinical trials, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was 95% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 illness.  Here is general information on the covid vaccination.    Name: BNT162b2 Manufacturer: Pfizer, Inc., and BioNTech Type of vaccine: mRNA Number of shots: 2 shots, 21 days apart Method of delivery: Shot in the muscle of the upper arm Click on the link below to get vital information on the Covid Vaccination from the specialized agency of the United Nations, WHO.     https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/coronavirus-disease-(covid-19)-vaccines?adgroupsurvey={adgroupsurvey}&gclid=Cj0KCQiAhP2BBhDdARIsAJEzXlFg_MaK8KG0CxIi8xxZ4ricMTWKvnPalSQeygIM19x8Uk98C1V3LrwaAlR8EALw_wcB   COVID-19 VACCINE IN THE UK   In the UK, 350+ million doses of the vaccine were ordered, which is enough to vaccinate the entire population. The NHS (National health system) is currently offering the Covid 19 vaccine to people that are most at risk from the deadly coronavirus disease.  The vaccinations are being distributed to some hospitals and pharmacies to administer to people under the following group:   People at the age of 60 and above.  People who have high risks of getting infected by the disease. (The clinically extremely vulnerable) People that have moderate risks of getting infected by the disease. (The clinically vulnerable) People that live or work in care homes People that get a carer’s allowance Health and social care workers   COVID-19 VACCINE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS; UK   Although the  Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is currently available, it is yet to be administered to international students in the UK. Sources claim that International students will have access to the vaccine and no charges will be applied to testing or the treatment of COVID-19. However, International students that are diagnosed with medical conditions and are between the ages of 16 and above are to be administered the vaccine from the first week of March 2021 until the end of March 2021.  The older international students are next in line to be administered the vaccine, this would be done before the end of April 2021.    The UK is dedicated to supporting international students in such unusual times and the Universities Minister, Michelle Donelan, offered her gratitude to students for being patient with the provisions offered to combat COVID-19.  The Secretary of Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock stated that “the vaccine along with effective treatment processes will help in managing COVID-19, thus further helping reach normalcy in the future, hopefully”.   The United Kingdom is likely to be the first country to be fully vaccinated before the late spring/early summer of the year 2021, since 350+ million vaccine doses were ordered for a population of 65 million, meaning supply will be sufficient. If this happens, September 2021 entry will be safe for all International students without any hassle.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. Post-Study Work Permit in Ireland

POST-STUDY WORK PERMIT IN IRELAND.     WHAT IS A POST-STUDY WORK PERMIT? HOW TO GET A WORK PERMIT AFTER STUDYING IN IRELAND. Today’s blog post is a short story on what transpired between our counsellor and a prospective international student. It is a quiet day at Negxy Concept, the CEO, Mr, Nelson Eban is seated in his office, talking to the office NYSC Corper, Anyanwu Agatha. The counsellor and senior admissions officer, Mr Tosin Eminowa and Mrs Queensley Ezike are busy at their desk working through some files and the digital marketing Manager Miss. Folasade Abimbola, alongside the Junior admissions officer, Miss. Providence Ogedengbe are together at the reception trying to create some content for their online audience when the entrance door opens. A middle-aged woman walks into the office. After being attended to by the receptionist, she is taken to the counsellor, Mr Tosin Eminowa, as she is a prospective client, who desires to study in Ireland. COUNSELOR: Good Afternoon Ma’am. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: Good Afternoon Counselor, please I would like to study abroad in Ireland with the help of this agency, as I have heard so much about Negxy Concept Limited. However, I would like to know more about the privileges of studying in Ireland. COUNSELOR: You are welcome to Negxy Concept Limited Ma’am, thank you for being here. Studying in Ireland is a great choice and it has a lot of privileges, for example, a quality education, a promising career, a high level of security but the most exciting of all is that you get the opportunity to stay back for as long as two years after graduation. This is known as a post-study work permit. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: This seems exciting; do tell me more about this work permit. COUNSELOR: It was created for international students who wish to work in Ireland after the completion of their degrees, to gain invaluable work experience in a specific field thereby strengthening their CV and opening doors to a successful career. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: This work permit seems compelling. COUNSELOR: It is a post-study work permit Ma’am, a work permit is different from a post-study work permit. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: Oh really? How so? COUNSELOR: A post-study work permit allows you to secure graduate employment and also enables you to apply for a work permit or a green card in Ireland. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: Is the 2years post-study work permit for international students who studied any degree in Ireland? COUNSELOR: No, Ma’am, the 2 years post-study work permit only applies to students who have a level 9 and 10 NFQ (National Framework of qualifications), which is a post-graduate diploma, a master’s degree and a doctoral degree. The students must have also applied for the third level graduate program within six months of being notified that they have completed their degree. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: Do tell me more. COUNSELOR: The NFQ levels for higher education that gives a post-study permit that is lower than 2years is level 7 and 8, which is the ordinary bachelor’s degree and the honours bachelors degree. These degrees are only eligible for a 1-year post-study work permit unlike the level 9 and 10 that is eligible for  2 years post-study work permit. Also, the third level graduate program was introduced by the Irish government to allow international students who have completed their degrees from a recognized Irish higher institution to remain in Ireland after their studies. Therefore, international students who have graduated from an Irish university must apply for a third level graduate program to be eligible for a post-study work permit, no matter the NFQ level of degree attained. PROSPECTIVE CLIENT: I would like to go for a Masters program, so i believe this offer was made especially for me. Thank you so much for this session, it was really educative. COUNSELOR: That is perfect Ma’am. You are very much welcome, thank you for choosing Negxy Concept Limited. We would need a few information from you to begin the process for a master’s program in Ireland. Here is a list of universities, I would do a briefing on them shortly. What are you waiting for? Impact of Corona virus on Study Abroad for Foreign Students; The United Kingdom.

IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS ON STUDY ABROAD FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS; THE UNITED KINGDOM.   Before we look into the impact of Coronavirus on study abroad for foreign students in the UK, let us have a better understanding of this deadly disease known as Coronavirus (COVID-19 ) and its existence in the U.K.   Coronavirus disease (COVID-19 ) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. If you are within proximity of someone who has COVID-19, you could be affected, as this disease is transmitted through droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. Some of the COVID-19 symptoms are Fever, dry cough, sore throat, loss of taste and smell. The World Health Organization (WHO) an agency of the United Nations in charge of international public health has confirmed that there has been a total of 99. 363. 697 cases, 2.135. 959 deaths and 224 countries, areas or territories with COVID-19 cases.   CORONAVIRUS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM The United Kingdom has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. The country is currently in its third national lockdown and is battling a high rate of infections, hospitalizations and deaths, caused by a more transmittable variant of the virus. On a positive note, the U.K. is one of the world leaders for the coronavirus vaccination campaign.   IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS ON STUDYING  IN THE UNITED KINGDOM In the United Kingdom, the coronavirus pandemic has affected education in many ways. To limit the spread of this deadly virus, many universities across the United Kingdom have limited or completely suspended face-to-face teaching and moved to remote learning while others have adopted the hybrid form of learning, which requires spaced-out face-to-face tutoring and digital lectures while observing the COVID-19  protocols. Due to the hybrid learning, measures have been implemented by universities to curb the spread of the deadly virus, these include marking the entry and exit points of buildings; providing hand sanitiser stations, marking of floors and social distances measures.   U.K universities are currently processing applications normally because the U.K is expected to be one of the first countries in the world to be fully vaccinated, likely by September 2021, therefore, the next main student intake is scheduled for September 2021 and students will have access to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine as it will be administered across the country. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected students from easily travelling in and out of the United Kingdom as the U.K government has advised foreigners travelling into the country to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result taken up to 3 days before departure and if you do not comply, your airline or carrier may refuse you boarding and you may be fined on arrival. Also, you must self-isolate when you enter the U.K from any foreign country, these rules must be obeyed until the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is issued. “As 2021 begins with a national lockdown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the higher education sector has set out a range of measures that ensure student welfare remains the priority” Click on the link below to view these measures and how to cope as an international student studying in the United Kingdom. https://www.prospects.ac.uk/applying-for-university/university-life/how-universities-are-changing-in-the-wake-of-covid-19 Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Ikeja, Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt.
