A picture that reads; Financial Requirements for Canadian Student Visa Application

Financial Requirements for Canadian Student Visa

Financial Requirements for Canadian Student Visa Application Canada is renowned for its world-class education system, making it an attractive destination for many Nigerian students seeking to pursue their academic dreams and further their studies abroad. However, in order to get your Canadian student visa, you need to demonstrate your financial ability to support yourself during your academic pursuit. In this post, we will explain your financial requirements, also known as proof of funds, for your studies and what can qualify as proof of funds for your Canadian visa application.   What is Proof of Funds? Proof of funds is a document or set of documents that serves as evidence of your financial ability to support yourself throughout your study program in Canada. The Canadian government requires this evidence to ensure that you can cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs associated with your education. It is very important because it demonstrates your financial ability and reassures the authorities that you won’t face financial hardship while studying, and this is a key factor for visa approval. The Canadian Government wants international students to thrive in their academic pursuits and having adequate funds ensures that you can adapt to Canadian life without financial stress.   Documents that Qualify as Proof of Funds for your Canadian Student Visa Here are some of the documents that qualify as your proof of funds for your Canadian student visa application: Bank Statement: Your bank statements, covering a period of 4 to 6 months, must clearly show a consistent balance exceeding the minimum required amount for your living expenses and the balance of your tuition fees. If you are travelling with dependants, then the cost of living for each of your dependants must be reflected in your bank statement. Also, ensure it is up to date and in English or French. Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC): Many financial institutions in Canada offer GIC programs designed for international students. These provide proof of funds while also serving as a savings tool. The financial institution will release the funds to you by providing an initial lump sum once you identify yourself upon arrival in Canada and release the remainder of the funds in monthly or bi-monthly instalments over a period of 10 to 12 months. Scholarships and Financial Assistance: If you have scholarships or financial aid, include authentic letters or documentation confirming the amount and duration of any scholarships or financial aid you have received. Affidavit of Financial Support: In a case where a sponsor is funding your education, a notarized affidavit of financial support from them is required for your Canadian student visa application, along with their financial documents. It is necessary to attach a Letter of Explanation to your Canadian student visa application. This letter should explain the source of your funds and how you intend to manage your finances during your studies.   The Proof of Funds Needed for your Visa Application Your proof of funds should include the balance of your tuition fees, cost of living, and additional expenses such as textbooks and health insurance. If you are travelling with dependants, it should also contain the living expenses of each of your dependants. The cost of living in Canada varies based on the city and your lifestyle. Generally, larger cities like Toronto and Vancouver are more expensive than smaller cities or towns. Your main expenses will include accommodation, food, transportation, healthcare, and personal expenses. On average, the cost of living for the main applicant is 10,000 CAD to 15,000 CAD per year for living costs. A minimum of 4,000 CAD is required for the first dependant/spouse and 3,000 CAD for any additional dependant. In conclusion, a crucial part of your application for a student visa to Canada is your proof of finances. Make sure your financial documents are organised and in line with the Canadian student visa requirements, in order to improve your chances of success. Keep in mind that this information is what stands as of today 26th October 2023, however, the immigration laws might change, so it’s important to confirm the most recent requirements by reaching out to us here for the most recent information. the CBN New Image that says, The BN New Free Floating Forex Policy

WHAT THE CBN NEW FREE FLOATING FOREX POLICY MEANS FOR YOU AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT.

THE CBN NEW FREE FLOATING FOREX POLICY We all woke up to the CBN New Free Floating Forex Policy on the news yesterday, 15th June, 2023 stating that the CBN would no longer peg the Naira at a certain rate versus the dollar, and also Local Banks had been given the permission to trade the naira against the U.S dollar based on a free market.  This means that the Naira’s exchange rate against the dollar will be determined through supply and demand rather than by the central bank.  All banks, including the CBN, are allowed to set their own rate, primarily determined by what the market offers which eliminates the need for a parallel or black market.   WHAT WOULD THIS NEW POLICY MEAN FOR YOU AS YOU AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AS YOU PREPARE TO PAY FOR YOUR STUDIES THIS SEPTEMBER? What is immediately glaring is that as a student wanting to pay your tuition fees abroad, you would no longer be able to make use of the CBN forex rate through FORM A as had been the case.  Each bank would now determine what rate they would charge to fulfil international payments to foreign institutions. And this is expected to increase the rates that students would be expected to pay. For instance, a quick check on OANDA.com revealed that the Naira rose from around 586 as at yesterday, to 625 to a pound this morning (16th, June 2023). Over the next couple of weeks, it is expected that the Naira rates versus the major currencies would fluctuate steadily as the Naira battles against the dollar and as such, students should be prepared to pay more money to secure their offers and prepare their financial statements for proof of funds. We would be holding an Instagram live session next week (21st, June 2023) to shed more light on what you can do as a student wanting to study this September. For more Information on The CBN New Free Floating Forex Policy and how to go about these new changes, click here to speak with one of our counsellors.

The only individuals who are eligible to accompany you on your travels as dependants are your spouse, partner, or child under the age of 18.  Additionally, it is crucial to note that in order for your family to join you on your educational journey, you must be pursuing a full-time postgraduate degree program. Now that we have established the eligibility criteria, let us delve into the frequently asked questions posed by international students on how to travel with family.   1. What Preparations Should I Make When Travelling with My Family? When you’ve made the decision to travel with your family for your studies, it’s important to make some preparations to ensure a smooth and seamless transition into life abroad. One of the most important things to consider is your finances. You’ll need to plan ahead and make sure you have enough money to take care of yourself and your family for at least the first three months. This will give you time to settle in and get a feel for your new surroundings without worrying about financial stress. Another important consideration is finding suitable accommodation for you and your dependents. This can take time, so it’s best to start looking as soon as possible. You’ll want to find a place that’s comfortable, safe, and convenient for your needs. When travelling to the UK, it’s important to remember that the food and weather may be different from what you’re used to. To make the adjustment easier, it’s a good idea to pack enough food and clothing to sustain you and your family for at least the first three months. This will give you time to adjust to the new environment without worrying about running out of essentials. Finally, it’s crucial to have photocopies of important documents with you during your journey. This is especially important because these documents may be requested at the immigration border. By having copies readily available, you can avoid any unnecessary delays or complications.   2. What Should I Expect at The Immigration Border When Travelling with my Depedents? When it comes to passing through the UK immigration border, everyone’s experience can be different. However, there are a few key things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth and stress-free process. First and foremost, it’s important to remain calm and confident, even if you’re feeling nervous or unsure.  Additionally, it’s crucial to have all the necessary documents on hand, including copies of your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), offer letter from your university, recent bank statements, and details of your accommodation for both you and your family. To avoid any potential issues, it’s recommended that you keep these documents in your hand luggage, as border officials may request to see them upon arrival.  By being prepared and organized, you can help ensure a successful entry into the UK.   3. How Can I Arrange Transportation from The Airport for my Family After We Arrive in the UK? If you’re planning a trip to the UK with a large family, it’s crucial to arrange transportation ahead of time and if you are travelling with your partner and kids, then a simple taxi may not have the capacity to accommodate all of your needs.  Fortunately, there are several online resources available, including popular booking sites like booking.com, that can help you arrange transportation from the airport to your temporary or permanent accommodation. Additionally, if you’re part of a social media group with other Nigerians attending the same school as you in the UK, don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance. Connecting with others who have already gone through the experience can be incredibly helpful in avoiding unnecessary mistakes. By taking the time to plan ahead and seek out resources, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free arrival in the UK for you and your family.   4. What Type of Accommodation Should I Get When Travelling with Family Finding suitable accommodation for your family can be a daunting task, but with careful planning and research, you will surely  find the perfect place to call home during your stay in the UK. The type of accommodation available to you in the UK is largely dependent on the number of dependents you are travelling with. If you are travelling with only your spouse, you can opt for a simple one-bedroom flat or a student accommodation apartment. However, if you have children, a student accommodation apartment may not be an option. In this case, it is recommended that you look for a two or three-bedroom apartment to accommodate your family. To avoid any inconvenience, it is advisable to find an apartment before you travel to the UK.  However, it is important not to pay any fees or deposits before physically seeing the place, but if  you have friends or family who are already in the UK, they can check out the apartment for you before making any payments.   5. What Day

Great Career Fields for the Future

GREAT CAREER FIELDS FOR THE FUTURE.   There are a good number of great career fields for the future, those careers to watch out for that are likely to be the highest paying professions in years to come.  THE GUIDING LIGHT, HEROES AND LEGENDS.  At the ending of the 18th century, there was a boom in Europe and the United States, before the mid 19th century, it had spread all over the world, this boom is known as the industrial revolution.  The Industrial Revolution transformed from the old manufacturing processes like hand production methods to new manufacturing processes like machines. This revolution gave rise to others of its kind, like the technological revolution and the artistic revolution.  However, the main question is, would there have been a revolution without heroes, legends, and people that laid a pathway, a guiding light to a better world?    INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION  Have you ever imagined a world without machines or devices, a world with no source of technology? I can presume your answer to be no but guess what? This has only become possible because people like us had the desire to make the world a better place and they were born at the right time.    James D Rockefeller John Davison Rockefeller was born on July 8, 1839, and is known to be the wealthiest American of all time. He ran a business in oil refining and successfully founded the Standard Oil Company, Rockefeller gained enormous influence over the railroad industry which transported his oil around the country.   Andrew Carnegie  Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25th 1834, he is known to be one of the richest Americans in history, he led the expansion of the American steel industry.   One cannot talk about the industrial revolution without mentioning the likes of James D Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie as they were part of the prominent revolutionist of the period.  They were born between the year 1834 and 1839, and they grew during the period where there was greater economic progress through the use of railways, cheaper steel, and the increased use of steam engines.  Before this period there was limited use of steam engines as it was largely water-powered machines that were in use, but between the years of 1867 and 1914, there was a built out of railroads, large-scale iron and steel production which led to the use of steam engines, this was a better and a faster method for industries than the water-powered machines which could only be located near water. Although John D Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie were both born into a poor home, they took advantage of the time in which there were born and got involved in the development of steam engines which contributed to the Economic, Technological and Social advancement of the society.      TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION Following the rise of the Industrial Revolution is the technological revolution which resulted in an accelerated technological and digital advancement. After the invention of devices and systems, technological geniuses who were born into this era like the likes of Steve Jobs, Bill Joy, Bill gate amongst others, transformed society with their digital skills which led to rapid growth in productivity.    Steve Jobs  Steve Jobs born on February 25 1955, was the chairman, CEO and co-founder of Apple Inc. He is also widely recognized as a pioneer of the personal computer revolution along with his early business partner and fellow Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.   Bill Gate Bill Gate born in the year October 28 1955, is the co-founder of the largest personal computer software company, a multinational technology company known as Microsoft.  They were both born in the year 1955 and were fortunate to have been schooling just when the time-sharing computers started surfacing. Time-sharing systems could multiprogram and multi-tasks, unlike the previous systems that could only do one thing at a time and made coding very cumbersome, tiring and frustrating. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates fell in love with the Time-sharing systems, as it was easy to use at the time and it helped them to get their projects done faster and better. Imagine someone before this era being a tech billionaire, it makes sense? (Nigerian Lingo for asking if something makes sense).   PECULIAR EVENTS IN THIS AGE AND TIME A major US oil company suffered a cyberattack and a Ransome of $5m dollars was demanded, which they had to pay.  There have been several other incidences like this and such cases seem to be on the rise, meaning more work for those in this career field of Cyber Security. This career is and promises to be a high paying career in the future due to the high demand to fight against internet hackers as technology continues to grow.    Elon Musk, the CEO and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc is making space travel possible with his spacecraft company known as SpaceX. Also, Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon recently announced that he will be travelling to space on July 20th, 2021 he owns a space company called ‘Blue Origin’.  This could only mean more work for Aerospace Engineers, Astrologist and those in related fields. These are great careers to look out for in the future.    A lot of businesses are going digital daily and are beginning to need a different kind of marketing, meaning more work for digital marketers, coders, and others in the digital field. Take advantage of this opportunity and build a career based on its demand in society as that will ensure a great career field for the future.   Other fields that recent trends have shown may be the next big things are; Robotics Project Management Digital Content Creating and other related career fields.    LEVERAGING THIS OPPORTUNITY AS A STUDENT.  It is the 21st Century and the revolution has skyrocketed, with a solid foundation built in numerous career fields for students to get a promising profession for the future.  Ask yourself this, are you taking advantage of the period
