UK Dependant Visa Ban for International Student

Dependant Visa for International Students Banned by the UK Government Dependant visa for International Students has been banned by the UK Government for students going to study a taught Master’s program. This action aims to reduce net migration.  On the 23rd of May 2023, Suella Braverman, representing the UK government, revealed significant strategies aimed at restricting international students’ ability to bring dependants along as they travel for their studies, except for those pursuing research-oriented postgraduate programs. These measures have been devised to effectively decrease the influx of net migration. The Office for National Statistics (ONS), in November 2022, released data indicating an estimated net migration of 504,000 from June 2021 to June 2022, a substantial surge compared to previous years. Furthermore, the UK’s immigration statistics revealed a marked surge in dependants accompanying international students, evidenced by a record 136,000 dependant visas issued to families of international students in December 2022.  In this post, we will discuss the measures announced by the UK government and what they mean for you.   EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES TO MITIGATE NET MIGRATION  Effective from January 2024, the UK government will implement the following strategies to effectively curb the influx of net migration: Enforcing a restriction on international students bringing dependants under their UK student visas, except for those engaged in explicitly designated research-focused postgraduate programs. Eliminating the option for international students to transition from student visas to work visas before completing their studies. Thoroughly reviewing the financial requirements for students and their dependants to ensure sufficient funds are available.    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PROSPECTIVE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS? The measures set forth by the UK government to curb the net migration will take effect from January 2024 onwards. Here is what it means for you as a Prospective UK Student.   The September 2023 intake is the final opportunity for you, looking to pursue taught master’s degrees to travel with your dependants. Furthermore, as an international student, you will no longer be able to switch from student visas to work visas before successfully completing your educational program. This revision aims to ensure that individuals travelling into the UK through the study route genuinely intend to advance their education. The financial requirements & Cost of living needed for your student visa application may also undergo some adjustments, as you may be required to provide more than a 28 days bank statement. However, the UK government’s final decision regarding this matter is still pending. If travelling with your family for your studies is a priority for you and you cannot meet up with this September 2023 intake in the UK, then you can consider other countries like Canada, Australia, and also the USA.  If you require assistance in processing admission and visa applications for any of these countries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

INCREASE IN UK STUDENT VISA INTERVIEW FROM THE UKVI

UK STUDENT VISA INTERVIEW; SEPTEMBER 2023 INTAKE  There has been an increase in UK Student Visa Interviews from the UKVI, especially as the September 2023 intake draws to a close, more and more people are applying or preparing to apply for their Student Visas. Over the past couple of weeks, the increase in UK Student visa interviews from UKVI (the Home Office) has grown. These interview requests are either virtual (conducted through an audio call or a video call in a quiet and private place) or physically at the UK Embassy in Lagos or Abuja Nigeria.   Why has there been a sudden increase in UK Student interviews and who is most at risk of having an invite sent to them? Well, from what we have noticed, there is no clear pattern as to why some people are singled out for these interviews rather than simply receiving a request for more documentation through an email which is what the UKVI often does. What we can deduce however, is that people who have had RECENT MARRIAGES, PREVIOUS VISA REFUSALS and BANS or, have submitted documents that are suspected to be falsified are more at risk of receiving this invite.   What happens if you get this invite?  If you or a loved one receives an invite like this, then there is a 50% chance that the visa might be refused. This is because the application has already been flagged for one or multiple issues and if these issues are not addressed during the interview, the visa will be refused.   How can you avoid an invite if you are yet to apply for your Visa? Sometimes, this is unavoidable if you are dealing with issues such as a very recent marriage just before your application is submitted, however, you can greatly reduce your chances of receiving such an invite if you work with a VISA EXPERT such as Negxy Concept Limited, where your application receives thorough checks to limit and even possibly eliminate your chances of getting an invite. In the case where an interview request is unavoidable, you will be coached thoroughly by our Visa Expert on how to respond to every likely question that can arise during the interview.    Why you should work with NEGXY for your UK Student Visa Application Working with us as your visa expert, helps you to have a holistic view on your visa application. Paying your Tuition Fees as a UK Student

HOW TO PAY YOUR TUITION FEES AS A PROSPECTIVE UK STUDENT

HOW TO PAY YOUR TUITION FEES AS A PROSPECTIVE UK STUDENT  Paying your Tuition Fees or making payment for your Tuition Deposit, as an International student,  is one of the most important tasks you must complete before you can travel for your studies to the UK. This payment is vital as it demonstrates to the university that you are committed to studying abroad. For International students from Nigeria, the process of paying your Tuition Fees may seem complex or overwhelming. This article will guide you through the payment options available to you and offer advice on the most suitable option for you at this moment. So, let’s dive in and explore the different ways you can make your tuition payment.   METHODS OF PAYING YOUR TUITION FEES TO A UNIVERSITY IN THE UK There are two major methods of paying your tuition fees as a prospective UK student and we will be discussing those methods.  The first method is known as the Trade Monitoring System, or more commonly referred to as the Form-A method of payment.  The second option which can be seen as the best and faster method, involves paying your fees directly to the University.  Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s explore each payment method   1. FORM-A METHOD Form-A is an application form for payment transactions, specifically designed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It provides customers with a convenient way to make payments for various services, including school fees, technical fees, airline tickets, PTA, and BTA. This form is particularly useful for online transactions that involve foreign currencies. In the past, using the Form-A method of payment was one of the most cost-effective ways to pay tuition fees from Nigeria. Before June 15, 2023, the official CBN exchange rate, ranging from ₦520 – ₦580 to £1, was used to calculate the required payment. However, after this date, the CBN rate ceased to exist. As a result, students intending to use Form-A for tuition fees now have to rely on the prevailing market rate as at the time of payment, which currently exceeds ₦1,000 for £1 as at the time of writing this article. Unfortunately, this payment method takes a considerable amount of time for fees to be processed and transferred to the school’s bank account. Previously, the official waiting time was around 30 days, but it has now been extended to 120 days, equivalent to approximately four months. This payment method may not be suitable for students who have not initiated their application process on time, as it poses a risk of missing the tuition deposit deadline. However, it can still be utilized for paying the remaining tuition fees. To apply for Form-A, you can obtain the necessary document from any major bank in Nigeria. Each bank may have its own specific policies regarding the acquisition of the form, which can be obtained by visiting a bank branch or checking the bank’s website. Alternatively, the Form-A document can also be accessed online. To do so, you must be registered on the Trade Monitoring System. During the registration process, you will be required to provide your personal and banking details.   The following are the documents you need to successfully make your Form-A application for paying your tuition fees: Duly completed form A School Bill for current period Evidence of admission/course program Photocopy of first-degree certificate (or its equivalent)/certified true copy of statement of result by awarding institution Valid email address that is linked to your BVN Letter of Authorization from your Bank Valid means of identification Valid Tax clearance certificate   2. DIRECT PAYMENT METHOD Paying your tuition fees directly to the school used to be an expensive but faster way to make your payment. This is because the exchange rate used is the market rate. However, since the CBN rate no longer exists, the Form A and Direct Payment methods now use the market rate, which is currently above ₦1,000 for £1. If you want to avoid any delays and meet your payment deadline, then paying your tuition fees directly is the best option for you, especially if you’re planning to study abroad in September 2023. It’s the fastest method available. If you have a family member or friend who lives in the UK, you can ask them to assist you in paying your tuition fees or deposit directly to the school.  There are also various online platforms that you can use to pay your tuition fees directly.  Some of these platforms are:  Fly wire  Western Union Pay4Me  So, you have various options to choose from.   CONSEQUENCES OF LATE TUITION PAYMENT The consequences of paying your tuition deposit or fees late are significant. Failing to pay your tuition deposit before the deadline or if your payment is not received before the deadline, you run the risk of losing your offer in that institution.  Late payment of deposit fees could also lead to the risk of automatic deferment to the next session. During the cause of your study, you are also expected to meet the various payment deadlines, failing to do this, could increase your risk of not being able to graduate.  Not paying your tuition fees on time can also jeopardize your student visa. For those planning to join the September 2023 intake, the most reliable method for paying your tuition deposit and meeting the payment deadline is to pay directly to the university. This ensures a smooth process and minimizes the risk of any complications. If you have any further questions regarding the payment of tuition fees as an international student to a university in the UK, please feel free to ask in the comments below.

the CBN New Image that says, The BN New Free Floating Forex Policy

WHAT THE CBN NEW FREE FLOATING FOREX POLICY MEANS FOR YOU AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT.

THE CBN NEW FREE FLOATING FOREX POLICY We all woke up to the CBN New Free Floating Forex Policy on the news yesterday, 15th June, 2023 stating that the CBN would no longer peg the Naira at a certain rate versus the dollar, and also Local Banks had been given the permission to trade the naira against the U.S dollar based on a free market.  This means that the Naira’s exchange rate against the dollar will be determined through supply and demand rather than by the central bank.  All banks, including the CBN, are allowed to set their own rate, primarily determined by what the market offers which eliminates the need for a parallel or black market.   WHAT WOULD THIS NEW POLICY MEAN FOR YOU AS YOU AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AS YOU PREPARE TO PAY FOR YOUR STUDIES THIS SEPTEMBER? What is immediately glaring is that as a student wanting to pay your tuition fees abroad, you would no longer be able to make use of the CBN forex rate through FORM A as had been the case.  Each bank would now determine what rate they would charge to fulfil international payments to foreign institutions. And this is expected to increase the rates that students would be expected to pay. For instance, a quick check on OANDA.com revealed that the Naira rose from around 586 as at yesterday, to 625 to a pound this morning (16th, June 2023). Over the next couple of weeks, it is expected that the Naira rates versus the major currencies would fluctuate steadily as the Naira battles against the dollar and as such, students should be prepared to pay more money to secure their offers and prepare their financial statements for proof of funds. We would be holding an Instagram live session next week (21st, June 2023) to shed more light on what you can do as a student wanting to study this September. For more Information on The CBN New Free Floating Forex Policy and how to go about these new changes, click here to speak with one of our counsellors.

What Preparations Should I Make When Travelling with My Family? When you’ve made the decision to travel with your family for your studies, it’s important to make some preparations to ensure a smooth and seamless transition into life abroad. One of the most important things to consider is your finances. You’ll need to plan ahead and make sure you have enough money to take care of yourself and your family for at least the first three months. This will give you time to settle in and get a feel for your new surroundings without worrying about financial stress. Another important consideration is finding suitable accommodation for you and your dependents. This can take time, so it’s best to start looking as soon as possible. You’ll want to find a place that’s comfortable, safe, and convenient for your needs. When travelling to the UK, it’s important to remember that the food and weather may be different from what you’re used to. To make the adjustment easier, it’s a good idea to pack enough food and clothing to sustain you and your family for at least the first three months. This will give you time to adjust to the new environment without worrying about running out of essentials. To avoid any inconvenience, it is advisable to find an apartment before you travel to the UK.  However, it is important not to pay any fees or deposits before physically seeing the place, but if  you have friends or family who are already in the UK, they can check out the apartment for you before making any payments.   5. Effects of Russia’s Invasion on Prospective UK Students

Effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on prospective UK students    We will be looking at the effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on prospective UK students, with Nigeria as a focus. The Russian-Ukraine war has been a troubling situation, and as the war is still on, there have been several effects all around the world.  The 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine occurred on February 24th, 2022, and different countries all around the world have responded in different ways. A good number of European countries that share borders with Ukraine are opening up their borders to refugees fleeing from Ukraine, countries such as Romania, Slovakia and Poland.  The United States, the United Kingdom, and some other countries in the European Union responded by placing financial sanctions on Russia. These sanctions prohibit the country from modernising its economy and seizing Putin’s ability to project power in world affairs. In addition to the sanctions, the UK government also came up with a new rule on the 15th of March 2022. This rule can be seen as a major effect of Russia’s invasion on prospective UK students from Nigeria.   Effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Nigerians going to the UK The news update for UK students that were released by the UK government in the 2nd week of March brought about a lot of questions. Questions like, has the UK seized visa processing in Nigeria? Is the UK still accepting Nigerian students? Will students with offers from UK universities still get to travel for their studies? And so much more.  These panics began as a result of the Ukraine family scheme that was created to help refugees from Ukraine. The creation of this scheme resulted in priority and super-priority for Nigeria Visas to be suspended. Also, there are possibilities that the standard visa might take longer than the usual 3 weeks due to the Ukraine family scheme. The Russian – Ukraine Invasion has brought about not just the Ukraine family scheme but also a scheme known as Homes for Ukraine.  As the days go by and the war is still ongoing, there are possibilities that new rules may be made by the UK government that may benefit or not benefit Nigerians.  Therefore, students are advised to begin their admission and visa process early, to ensure that they successfully acquire their UK students visa and travel for their studies in the UK.  Also, ever since the Russia-Ukraine war, the Nigerian economy has been unstable. There has been an increase in the price of some refined products coming into the country. Products like petroleum have been scarce and expensive ever since the start of the war, and this is a major issue that is affecting not only Nigeria but the world at large.  The economic instability of the country since the war might make it harder for prospective UK students to travel for their studies in the UK. However, they should not be discouraged. In a situation such as this, we always advise our students to make their plans ahead of time. For example, students looking to study in the UK in the year 2023, should begin to make preparations. This is so that they are able to gather enough funds and successfully study in the UK, regardless of the economic instability in the country.   Prospective Nigerian students looking to study in the UK from Ukraine  Fortunately, a good number of Nigerian students who were studying in Ukraine were able to find their way back to Nigeria. Most of these students were unable to complete their education in Ukraine before the start of the war. However, they are willing to go back to school.  Yes, it is admirable that they are considering going back to school, but after questioning some of these students, they confirm that it may be quite challenging for them. In terms of funds and how to go about the process etc. This is where Negxy Concept Limited comes in.  At the moment, we have a couple of students from Ukraine that we are helping to further their studies in the UK. On the other hand, we advise those who want to study in the UK but do not have the funds to either find a sponsor or try to make proper plans for this.  In all, yes, even though a student could not complete their studies in Ukraine, they could still study in the UK.    Effects of the Invasion on Nigerian Students currently in the UK The Homes for Ukraine Scheme, which was imposed on the 18th of March, makes it harder for students who recently travelled for their studies in the UK to find accommodation. This is so as citizens and permanent residents are giving out their homes to refugees from Ukraine.     Speak with our counsellor, for more information on the effects of Russian Ukraine war on prospective UK Student    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under its belt. How Fake Documentation Got Tope Banned from the UK

How Fake Documentation Got Tope Banned from the UK   In this blog post, you will find out how fake documentation got Tope banned from the UK, why you should avoid providing fake documentation, why you should avoid a UK ban and also, the importance of providing authentic documentation for your study abroad process. At Negxy Concept Limited, we experience different types of clients with different needs coming to us for guidance and assistance. As the number 1 study abroad agency, we try to assist them in the best way that we can. However, some situations are beyond our control.  Less than 2weeks ago, we came across a lady named Tope who was put on a 10-year UK ban. This ban was placed after fake documentation was submitted during her visa processing.  I know you wonder how fake documentation got Tope banned from the Uk?  Apparently, Tope was deceived by an agency that claimed they could help her to provide a bank statement (proof of funds) for her visa process, however, it backfired and she was placed under a ban.  Providing fake documentation as her proof of funds was how Tope was banned from the UK. Yes, we can say that the fault is from the agency. However, Tope had a huge part to play in this, and unfortunately, this will be an irreversible dent in her travel history forever.  Do note that the UK government has made travelling to the UK quite easy for International students however, this should not be taken for granted.    Avoid Fake Documentation for your Studies in the UK On the 14th of January, 2022, the Uk Immigration authority perceived that Nigerians were taking up loans for their proof of funds, and as a result, the UK no longer trusts Nigerian proof of funds. This led them to put up strict measures to guarantee the ownership of funds provided by students. These strict measures are what landed Tope in the situation she currently is in, and it should be a warning to everyone else. If you want to go to school abroad, and you can not afford to, all you need to do is to wait until you have saved up enough for your studies or you can find a family member who can sponsor your studies.  Always avoid fake documentation for your studies, to the UK or any other country of your choice as the immigration authorities have proper procedures in place. You do not want to find yourself in the situation that Tope has found herself in.  Yes, we all want a better life, we all want to be in a better country, especially due to all the crises going on in Nigeria. However, going about it in the legit and proper way will always pay off.    Why You Should Avoid Getting a UK Ban It is very important for you to avoid a UK ban at all cost. Do have in mind that once you are placed on a ban from the Uk, you will be unable to travel to or visit countries like the Republic of Ireland. On the other hand, if you are placed on a ban from the Republic of Ireland, you can still get a visa to visit or study in the UK.  The UK is a very powerful country, and there are a good number of countries that will deny you a visa if you ever get placed under a ban from the UK. Therefore, be smart when going about your study abroad process, visit Negxy Concept Limited.    Importance of Providing Authentic Documentation  Providing counterfeit documents, either as proof of funds or any other documentation needed for your studies abroad should be avoided as this can put you in a situation that may be difficult to come out from. Situations such as; Visa refusal, a ban or even deportation after entry into the country.  Providing authentic documentation will guarantee the following  High chance of getting your visa High chance of successfully travelling and living in the country of your choice  High chance of gaining good employment  High chance of even getting permanent residence.  What is important is for the immigration authorities to trust you and see that you are honest and open.    Negxy Concept Limited, The Number 1 Study Abroad Agency in Nigeria  Having a genuine, trustworthy and outstanding agency is very important, as there are a lot of fake and deceitful agencies out there. Negxy Concept Limited is and will always be your most trusted agency, we are known to be the number 1 study abroad agency in Nigeria because we provide the best services.  If Tope had first come to us for her study abroad process she definitely would not have found herself in this tight and ugly situation.    Contact Negxy concept limited today, and see yourself successfully studying in your dream country.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under its belt.
