New Rules by the UK Government towards Covid19 Vaccination Administered in Nigeria

NEW RULES BY THE UK GOVERNMENT TOWARDS COVID19 VACCINATION ADMINISTERED IN NIGERIA   Covid19 Update for International students such as the new rules by the UK government towards the covid19 vaccine administered in African in countries like Nigeria have left so many prospective study-abroad students, tourists and businessmen with the intentions of travelling to the UK excited. After the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease in December 2019, Covid vaccination was established to protect people against this deadly disease. Different types of covid vaccines were produced and distributed to different countries around the world. The different types of Covid Vaccines are: Oxford/AstraZeneca Pfizer BioNTech Moderna Janssen On the 17th of September, the United Kingdom made a travel rule regarding the Covid19 vaccination. This rule stated that individuals who were administered vaccines in countries, like India, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand, Russia, and continents like Africa and South America are considered “unvaccinated” Therefore must follow the unvaccinated rules that were put in place by the UK government before they can successfully settle in the UK. International students in Nigeria travelling to the UK were affected as they had to follow the unvaccinated rules before they could successfully travel for their studies in the UK. These rules are as follows They must provide their vaccination status on arrival in the UK A 72hours Covid 19 test should be done before entering the UK Self Isolation of 10 days after entering the UK Covid test must be taken on or before day 2 after entering the UK Further testing will be taken on day 8 after entering the UK   THE UK APPROVES OF COVID19 VACCINES ADMINISTERED IN NIGERIA On Monday, the 11th of October, 2021 the UK government released a new travel rule with respect to the Covid19 vaccination. This new rule states that the vaccination administered in most African countries has been approved by the UK government. Fortunately, Nigeria is among these countries, meaning that vaccination administered in Nigeria has been approved by the UK government. Therefore, International students in Nigeria travelling to the UK on or after the 11th of October, 2021  do not have to follow the unvaccinated rules but rather the vaccinated rules. The Vaccinated rules are as follows: Covid Vaccination status must be provided e.g  A Covid19 vaccine certificate. A 72hours Covid 19 test before entering the UK is not required Getting a day 2 Covid 19 test is required. 10 days self Isolation after entering the UK is not needed Getting a day 8 Covid 19 test is not required. Therefore international students who are fully vaccinated and have plans to study in a University in the UK can follow the vaccinated rule by simply providing proof of their vaccination status, whereas unvaccinated international students must follow the unvaccinated rule. For a swift travel process to the UK for studies, international students are advised to get vaccinated. Click on the youtube video below to watch our live session on Covid19 Travel Protocols for Nigerian students going to study in the UK. However, please note that the 72hours Covid 19 test before entering the UK is not required for fully vaccinated international students as contrary to what was mentioned on the live session. Financial Requirements for a UK Student Visa

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR A UK STUDENT VISA To get a Visa to study for a program in the UK, certain requirements such as financial requirements are needed for a UK Student Visa. These requirements are not only educational documents like transcripts or degree certificates, identification documents like International passports, but also financial documents like bank Statements which is known as Proof of funds must be provided.    PROPER PLANNING TOWARDS GETTING A UK STUDENT VISA  It is no surprise that the UK is a magnet for international students as they have world-recognised universities and their degrees are known to be of a good standard. Also, tuition fees for universities in the UK are quite affordable therefore international students with the intention to study abroad in the UK must ensure that they make proper planning towards making their studies possible, so as not to lose out on a great opportunity.   Here at Negxy Concept Limited, we have counsellors that are assigned to put students (Clients) through all the processes on what to do after getting admission in the UK and generally what is involved in schooling abroad in the UK. Without this counselling, prospective study abroad students may lack proper planning on how to go about their admission process, what documents to be provided and the financial requirements needed.  Our Counsellors make students understand that aside from providing academic and identity documents, International students must ensure that they provide the financial requirement needed to get an admission and a UK Student Visa. They must ensure that they follow all the right procedures and make proper planning like : Arranging their Finances Read and Know more about the University Providing all necessary documents etc.    FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR A SUCCESSFUL ADMISSION AND VISA PROCESSING. A student who is coming to the UK to study must be able to prove that they have enough money to support themselves through their studies in the UK,  therefore, before they can be granted admission or a UK Student Visa they must meet all the Financial requirements. Finances are among the necessary requirements needed to survive in the UK especially for an International student. The Financial requirements are:  Tuition Deposit: International students undertaking a full-time master’s degree are required to pay a tuition fee deposit after an offer has been granted and before an electronic Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can be issued. A CAS is an important electronic document issued to students before they can apply for their student visa. A Confirmation for Acceptance of Studies (CAS) can only be granted to a student if they meet all the conditions that are stated, like payment of tuition deposit and providing all necessary documents.  Tuition Fee: UK Universities have an annual tuition fee, which covers the cost of the tuition, examination and graduation etc. After a student has been issued CAS, the student should see the cost of their tuition fee written on the CAS document that was sent to them. These fees are payable at the start of the programme, however, different universities in the Uk have different payment methods that students should follow.  Payment of tuition fees will ensure that the course of study is successfully completed. Bank Statement: Providing a bank statement document is essential during a study abroad process, This is important because students need to display sufficient financial capacity to the University for the duration of their studies in the UK, they must show the financial capacity to cover their: Tuition fee (For one academic year) Cost of living It has been confirmed that most universities in the UK demand to see a bank statement before granting admission to a student, as this serves as proof of funds. The duration of the bank statement that should be provided from the student’s bank account should be for 28days.   Cost of living: A student should have enough money for their living expenses while they study in the UK, such as their feeding expenses, transportation, hostel fee, these are known as the Cost of Living. The amount of money for the cost of living in the UK depends on the location of the University where a student intends to study. The cost of living for universities located inside of London is different from universities located outside of London. The cost of living inside the UK is 12,006  while universities outside the UK are 9,207.  Tuberculosis test fee: A Tuberculosis test must be presented during the UK Student Visa process, therefore international students should ensure that they have the Tuberculosis fee available before proceeding to apply for Visa.  IHS Fee: An Immigration Health Surcharge fee must be paid before a visa can be granted.   Visa Fee: International students must pay their visa fee before they can be called for a visa interview and before a UK student visa can be issued.    Speak with our counsellors today for detailed information on the financial requirements for a UK Student Visa and get the cost of all the required fees to be paid.   Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. University Intakes in the UK

UNIVERSITY INTAKES IN THE UK    Studying abroad in the UK is one of the best ways for prospective study abroad students to acquire global skills and open up professional opportunities. It is life-changing for many students because it introduces them to new cultures, promotes understanding and enables them to have access to other people and build relationships. Study abroad in the UK and achieve quality education, health benefits, post-study work permit, opportunity to explore other countries, shorter course duration and much more. Expose yourself by studying in the UK and thinking more creatively and flexibly to gain great career fields and achieve your life goal.  However, for a student who wants to study abroad in the UK, the first thing they should look into is the university intake, as getting an education in the UK requires strategic planning and without this planning, the student may get rejected and lose all of the benefits. Avoid rush hour and missing out on the university application deadline by beginning your application process early, according to the university intake of your choice.  UK universities offer three intakes which are: September Intake January Intake  May Intake    SEPTEMBER INTAKE  This intake is the Primary Intake for universities in the UK, it begins in September and runs till December. September is the most popular intake for international students due to the following reasons: A wide variety of courses are offered. Gives students enough time to familiarize themselves with the environment and other conditions. Greater opportunities for funding such as scholarships. UK has the largest number of internship opportunities. Greater number of applicants  The UK has the most competitive compared to other European countries.   The application deadline for the September intake is July. Meaning that by July universities in the UK stop accepting applications for students with the intent to study for the September intake. Within the periods of  March, April, May and June international students are expected to complete the Admission/ Visa process.    JANUARY INTAKE This intake is the Secondary intake for universities in the UK, it begins in January and runs till May, students who missed the September intake will get the chance to apply for the January intake. Students with the intention to go for the January intake should be aware of the following features and benefits.  Does not offer as many courses as the September intake A greater chance of getting an offer  The number of international applications during this period is less, compared to the September Intake because of the winter climate  A student gets more time to work on their application if they miss the September The application deadline for the January intake is September/October. Meaning that by October universities in the UK stop accepting applications for International students with the intent to study for the January Intake.  Within the periods of June, July, August and September, students are expected to complete the Admission/ Visa process and await their departure dates for their studies in the UK.    MAY INTAKE  This intake is the least preferred university intake in the UK, it begins in May and runs till August For students with the intentions to go for their studies during the May intake, they should be aware of the following advantage and disadvantages:  It is offered by a few universities It has the least options of courses During this period students prefer to take a spring break than go to classes The number of international applicants is very small Competition is the least intense during the May Intake There is an enhanced chance of getting an offer   THE BEST INTAKE FOR YOU A handful of UK universities offer a good number of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses during September Intake, therefore the September intake is undeniably the most popular among international students. However, it will be unwise not to explore your options for January and May intake, especially if you need more time to work on your application.  A student who wishes to know the best university intake for their studies in the UK should make a decision based on the following: Past academic performance Test scores The university and preferred course Availability for the course The acceptance rate of the Intakes and university of choice (the rate at which applicants are accepted.).   REQUIREMENTS NEEDED BEFORE THE START OF A UNIVERSITY INTAKE A student who wishes to study in the UK is expected to complete their application/visa processes within a time frame of 4 to 5 months, before the application deadline of the university intake of their choice.  The application and UK student visa requirements are as follows   Application Requirements Gather all the documents needed  Apply for a university in the UK at our agency  Write an English Level Test if required.  Payment of Tuition deposit and provision of the bank statement Apply for a CAS (Confirmation for Acceptance of studies) and fill out the pre CAS form   Visa Requirements  Run a Tuberculosis test Pay for IHS and Visa fee Prepare and attend the UK student visa interview   Contact our counsellors today! for detailed information on the different university intakes in the UK and also get guidelines on how to go about your application and visa process.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. Students in this category can go ahead to request a CAS and apply for a VISA. After an unconditional offer has been granted, payment of Tuition deposit and provision of the bank statement must be made before a student can request for a CAS (Confirmation for Acceptance of studies). Payment of tuition deposit at the bank with a ‘form A’ takes at least 2weeks, also, payment made through wired transfer takes at least 1 week.    A bank statement of 28 days should be provided by prospective UK students. However, Providing a statement of account (Bank Statement) might require one to gradually build their account within a few days or weeks in order to meet up with the stipulated amount which should contain the cost of living in the UK and the balance of the tuition fee.   After a student has been granted an unconditional offer, made a tuition deposit and provided a 28 days bank statement, the student can go ahead to request CAS (Confirmation for Acceptance of Studies) and fill out the pre CAS form. Some schools in the UK demand an interview before a CAS can be issued, this is called a Pre-CAS interview while some do not. After a student has applied for CAS, the certificate will be granted within 0 – 2 weeks.    VISA PROCESSING STAGE Contact us at Negxy Concept Limited today, to get your Visa process started. To know the required documents needed for visa processing,  Read through our previous blog post titled ‘ UK Student Visa Requirements; What to do after getting an admission in the UK’  The date for issuance of the TB (Tuberculosis) test varies, however, the test can be done within one week to one month and the result will be out immediately. It is important to note that the test result is valid for 6 months.   Payment of IHS (International Health Surcharge) and Visa fees can be made immediately. UK Student Visa will be granted within 1 to 2 weeks after Visa Interview has been made.    Students with the intention to study abroad in the UK should be aware of the duration of time that each step and stage an admission process takes and learn how to manage and work with the different time frames to meet up with the UK Visa and Application deadlines.    ADVANTAGE OF AN EARLY ADMISSION PROCESS Begining an early admission process gives a prospective study abroad student the opportunity to successfully travel abroad for his or her studies as the student will have a great chance of avoiding delays that may appear during both the application and Visa processes. The student will also have enough time to provide all the necessary documents that are required to meet up the UK University application deadline, successfully process their admission and travel for their studies.    CONSEQUENCES OF A LATE ADMISSION PROCESS Not getting an admission (offer) Losing an offer: This can be either because of late tuition deposit payment or late provision of the necessary documents.  Missing out on the resumption date due to the delay in the application process (Therefore the student must defer their admission until the next intake)    Contact our counsellors for more detailed information on the UK University application deadline how to successfully go through the admission and visa processing to the UK and Ireland today!  Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. Biometric Residence Permit for UK International Students.

BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR UK INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS.  Ever wondered what a Biometric residence permit (BRP) is and why it is important to international students and prospective study abroad students at large?  Then you should be aware that a biometric residence permit (BRP) is an identity card showing that you have the right to study or work in the UK. With a BRP, you are qualified for public services and every benefit that International students in the UK are entitled to. The following are expected to collect their biometric residence permit (BRP) after 10 days of arriving in the UK.  International students with a short-stay visa, who plan to extend their visa for longer than 6 months. International students who need to transfer their visa into a new passport. Graduates who find employment and apply to get a Tier 2 work visa. Prospective study abroad students that apply for a Tier 4 (general) visa after getting admission to study a bachelor, masters or PhD degree in a university in the UK. Without a biometric residence permit (BRP), you are at risk of being sent back to your country or being refused re-entry into the UK.    BENEFITS OF THE A BRP CARD.  A BRP card helps to prove your identity safely and quickly where and whenever this is required. With the BRP card, you can provide proof of your right to live in the UK. Quickly enable employers to identify a non-EEA national’s identity, employment status and right to work in the UK.  BRP cards are easier to carry around and avoid having to produce other less convenient documents such as passports.   BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT AND CORONA VIRUS  People tend to have challenges getting their biometric residence permit (BRP) within the stipulated period of 10 days especially since they are required to pick it up at the post office or the university.  However, due to the Corona Virus  (Covid 19) pandemic and the requirement to self-isolate, this 10-day deadline has been relaxed and made flexible. International students can pick up their BRP card anytime after the completion of their required self-Isolation. Also, universities have stopped receiving BRP cards for students due to the pandemic and the lockdown requirements but depending on the university where you are granted admission, your BRP can be sent directly to your home address. This can be done once you have presented evidence of your entry to the UK to the Immigration and Compliance Team and you used the university’s BRP ACL code in your visa application.    Meet our counsellors at Negxy Concept Limited to get the opportunity to study in reputable universities in the UK and get more information on Uk visa processing.    Negxy Concept Limited is a study abroad agency in Lagos with over 5000 successful admissions and visas under her belt. For international students to study in the UK they need to apply for a student visa. A student visa allows people from outside of the European economic area to enter the UK as a student, either at a school, college, or university. International students are allowed to apply for a UK student visa only after they have been offered admission into a university in the UK. The course of study determines the type of visa a student would be granted.   TYPES OF UK STUDENT VISA There are two types of student visa in the UK: The Short term study visa Tier 4 (General) student visa A short term study visa is given to students over 16 years old, who have gotten admission into a university in the UK to study a short course of 6months or an English language course of 11months. Some students believe that they can study a 6 months course or an English language course that lasts for 11months and still get all the benefits that come with having a general student visa. However, it is advisable for a prospective study abroad student to study a longer course in the UK and get a tier 4 (General) student visa, as this comes with benefits Like: Up to 3years post-study work permit. UK Point Based System

UK points-based system UK points-based system which treats EU and non-EU citizens equally was implemented in January 2021. On the 31st of December, free movement with the European Union (EU) ended and new arrangements were put in place for EU citizens. The Uk points-based system brought about new immigrant routes which are opened to EU and non-EU citizens to apply to work, live and study in the UK. Although there are conditions to earning these privileges, the sole purpose for this new system that was put in place by the UK government is to attract people who can contribute to the UK’s economy. UK points-based system requires EU and non-EU citizens to have 70 points upon entering the country. These points are given based on certain qualifications which an individual who wants to study, work or live in the UK must possess.    UK points-based system for international students and skilled workers.   International students The United Kingdom’s points-based system introduced the student’s route and the postgraduate immigration route for EU and non-EU students with the hope to attract 600,000 international students to universities in the United Kingdom by 2030. Minister for Future Borders and Immigration, Kevin Foster said, “Now we have left the EU, we are free to unleash this country’s full potential, implement the changes we need to restore trust in the immigration system and attract talent to drive our economy forward. Launching the student route in the UK points-based system sends a clear message to the world that we want the best and brightest to come to the United Kingdom to study at our globally renowned education institutions” However, international students to study in the United Kingdom are required to gain not less than 70 points to qualify for a study visa. This was implemented to improve the previous Tier 4 visa route for international students who are applying to study in the UK.  For a student to achieve this and get their application accepted they must hold an offer from a recognized UK university; have proof of English language proficiency (credit in SSCE English or IELTS and others) and evidence of sufficient funds. This new points-based system will allow international students who have completed a degree at a UK institution to remain in the UK to work at any skill level for two years after graduation (three years for PhD graduates) and to switch into work routes if they find a suitable job.   Skilled worker UK Points based system includes a route for skilled workers who have a job offer from an approved employer sponsor. The skilled worker route represents a significant change for employers recruiting from outside the UK. Its guide provides an overview of the points‑based immigration system and sets out the steps employers should take to adapt their business. At the end of a student’s post-study graduate immigration route, they can qualify for a work visa in the UK if they meet a specific set of requirements for which they will score points. In the UK points-based system for skilled workers, a total of 70 points is needed to be able to apply to work in the UK. To attain these points for the skilled worker route under the UK points-based system, the following are required.       A job offer at a specific skill level of  RQF3 or above which is equivalent to A level.       The job offer must be from a licensed sponsor (employer).       Have the ability to speak English in the required standard       The job offer must reach the general salary threshold of £25,600 or the specific salary requirement for their occupation (going rate). As part of the skilled worker route, applicants in the health maintenance field can secure a health and care visa with a job from the NHS (National Health Service). It enables them to come to the UK to work in eligible health occupations, the social care sector or organizations that provide services to the NHS.   Benefits of the UK points-based system.       Thanks to the UK points-based system, application and payment of Visa can be made online.       There will be no limit on the number of international students who are allowed to study in the UK under this new process.       Students outside the UK may apply for visas six months before their course starts.       The privilege to look for employment in the UK at any skill level for up to 2 or 3 years to switch into the skilled work routes       Students will be able to apply for the skilled worker route by ‘trading’ points on specific characteristics against their salary. For more information with regards to trading points on specific characteristics against your salary, check out the live session that we did on UK points based system.
